A food van turns a garden party into an event. Guests wander up to the hatch, watch their food being cooked, chat with the chef and head back to the party with a plate of something hot and fragrant.
About this party
These photos show our converted horse-box food van at a summer garden party, with guests gathering around it through the afternoon. Hosts often tell us the van is the thing everyone photographs, and it means they can spend the day with their guests instead of in the kitchen.
What we served
- Sukhumvit Pad Thai cooked to order
- Royal Massaman Curry or Isaan Thai Green Curry with jasmine rice
- Veg Gun Peacemaker stir fry for vegan guests
- hand-rolled vegetable spring rolls on the side
What the food van needs
The van is self-contained with its own certified gas. We need a reasonably flat spot it can reach, on the drive, the lawn or a corner of the field, with room for guests to queue. Send us a photo or a map pin of the spot and we will confirm it works.
Planning something similar
Food van hire is priced per guest, so everyone eats and there is no separate pitch fee: street food mains from £14 per guest, £17 with spring rolls and £24 with starters, satay and staff. Food van bookings have a £1,000 minimum spend. For smaller parties we can cook from portable food stations instead.
