Thaxted has plenty of character, with 29% of its homes built before 1919. Older places usually have a church hall, a village hall or a historic pub that makes a characterful venue, and we check the rules on cooking and power in advance.

Thaxted has plenty of larger family homes, with room for a bigger guest list at home. Larger homes mean bigger guest lists at home, so we often run two stations: one for mains and one for satay and starters.

The nearest station, Elsenham, is about 5 miles away, so most guests arrive by car. Rural venues need a caterer who brings everything, and we arrive with our own gas, water containers and lighting.

The drive from our kitchen is about 20 miles via the M11, A120 and B184, roughly 45 minutes, and travel is always included in your quote rather than added on later. For guests coming by train: Audley End, Newport and Stansted Mountfitchet are on the line to London Liverpool Street and Cambridge.
